SHABBY CHIC DECOR WITH LACE.....CRAFT BY MIABO ENYADIKE.

It is no secret, to close friends and family that I love to collect their lace fabrics, to use for Art and craft.

I am a fine and applied Artist, who is so in love with applying objects and fabric to my Art and craft and
lace, I use for it's texture and delicate look and feel.

Lately lace, has come into play in my Art and I love that but this blog, is about shabby chic which we know is a lacy affair.

I created these lace flower hangings, with plastic embroidery loops, that can be hung in a home with shabby chic interiors and accessories.

Black and Red lace may not be the favorite color of lace for shabby chic decor, I beg to differ because I see color and would love, to bend the rules to add a splash of color here and there to an all white, cream and beige, accessories in a shabby chic theme.

I'm still working on this project will keep you posted when I finish.

"Lace is always a soft add to an intimate decor and speaks for itself, that has been my attraction and the prompt for this decor".....Enjoy.

TRANSFORM PLAIN BASKET TO A VINTAGE DECOR ACCESSORY.

Whenever I travel back to my home country Nigeria, it is always a fabulous experience! I connect with family, childhood friends, delicious home food and most of all the diverse indigenous Art and Craft spread across different cultures that make up Nigeria.

Vintage Decor Basket

I am always pleasantly surprised by the local craft industry and their effort and consistency in keeping their craft authentic and deep in culture.

My last trip to Nigeria was a bit different, I was in a Solo Art Exhibition with little  or no time for any rampaging through the Art and Craft Markets.

Vintage Decor Basket

It was a bit difficult for me to move around, since I had to be at the exhibition venue all day, to attend to guest. Though, I still made out time for a quick trip, to the Lagos, Lekki Art Market and bought some locally handmade baskets. That are plain and simple!

Plain Grass woven basket.

These baskets come in all shapes and sizes and are made from dry tall grass. The medium sized ones, I just loved.

                                             Vintage Decor Basket

Fast forward, brought them back to Johannesburg and the idea for me, was to create Decorative Hospitality baskets, with a Vintage look for my guest who visit and stay over in my house.

I could also use them, as toiletries hamper baskets or storage for stuff in the bathroom.

It was something, I have always wanted to work on for a long time.

To create these Vintage decor baskets, you need:

-Baskets
-Metallic Paint, to transform the plain look of the basket.
-Beaded Ribbons for design and vintage look.
- Fabric Flowers, to finish the vintage look I was going for.

                                         Vintage Decor Basket

The simplicity of the baskets, lends itself to so many possibilities and this is one of them, a hospitality
basket I would call it and use for anything.

HOW TO DECORATE WITH PAINTED PINE CONES' ART AND CRAFT BLOG BY MIABO ENYADIKE

The month of October, till the month of February is the summer season in South Africa. While Europe and America are 'Wintered up', we here have loads of sun and rain with hailstones, all at the same time it is a little overwhelming.
Most mornings, its already pretty hot and I  take long walks, on the street that is at the corner of my own street.

I enjoy that walk because of all the tall pine trees, and all I see is pine cones everywhere. I always tell myself, I will pick some next time and paint some fun summer colors.

Maybe use them as decor, in my patio or my
sitting room but I always forget to go with a bag.

I remembered last Friday and went with a bag and picked as much as I could carry, bearing in mind it was a long walk back home.

Anyway I got my pine cones, cleaned them up with a small painters brush, then I brushed thinner all over each cleaned pine cone.
This I did to prevent insects or molding. I then applied white acrylic paint, as the base paint and when they were dry painted them the colors I wanted.

I chose colors, that reflect the mixed weather we are in right now. And oh! its raining but the sun is up how amazing......ENJOY!

                  Untitled;abstract mixed media;miabo enyadike
What can we do, with empty bottles?
What kind of bottles, do we find laying around our homes, the areas we reside in and our work place.

Colours 'Unity in diversity'; abstract art;miabo enyadike
what can we do with these bottles after use?
Throw them away or maybe, turn them into valuable pieces, making them useful again.

At any given time,we have bottles lying around our homes and we have cause to throw them away.

What if you don't throw them away,
or don't let them, become part of the refuse or garbage.

Some people will argue, that they clog or clutter and litter your space.
That they have become part of the reason, why our environment has become endangered.

Now, this does not sound attractive, so what can we do about them? or
what can we do with them?
How can used bottles, enhance our lives financially or otherwise?.

The reality is they can!.
1.They could be turned into functional pieces like decor pieces, flower vases, accessories.

They could be made over, into stylish aesthetic pieces, that add to collectibles.

And maybe, the missing link to a fabulous living space.

2.A recycling business could be borne out of bottles, basically collecting empty bottles from eateries, homes, business premises for free or for a token fee.

And reselling to businesses who need these bottles.

3.As an Artist,I run an art studio that incorporates bottles into it's design aesthetics. SAATCHIART.COM/ARTMIABO  SHOP HERE

It is different for me and truly rewarding, because the possibilities are endless.

CROCHET WITH PLASTIC ROPE; CROCHETING AND CRAFT BLOG BY MIABO ENYADIKE

PLASTIC ROPE POT

When I discovered these plastic ropes, sometime last year, I wanted to use them for something but just was not sure what.

                                                            PLASTIC ROPE

I did try all sorts but the fluid nature, of the rope was a bit daunting.

                                                     PLASTIC ROPE PURSES

Since I always try new craft stuff, I felt crocheting these ropes into some sort of decor or fashion piece was not a bad idea.

I choose to make bags out of them but along the line, I saw more than bags.

I could see baskets, flowers, jewelry but decided to settle for baskets instead.

I love color, so I mixed and matched bold colors that stand out at the end it all came together. ....Enjoy
