Mixed Media Abstract Art, on a plate by Miabo Enyadike

Art on a plate is one project I enjoyed working on. I always love to work on new surfaces and experience new ideas.

These paintings done on plates with a textured background were inspired by the texture that is found on old decaying buildings falling apart.

 These buildings, have this fascinating
mixture of different layers of paint mixed with damp wallpaper, and peeling walls.

I am into old buildings, they are intriguing and fascinating to me.

Last week, I visited a 120yr old building and the texture and patina on the zinc shed in the yard, with different shades of reds and browns was really rich.

The main house was once a small manor and the same could be said for the walls, for there were layers and layers

of a peeled surface, each showing coats of paint, mixed with wallpaper installed by previous inhabitants of the property.

Each former owner, putting their mark on these walls.

While others that were present, saw decay and sighed, I saw unintended Art in the making and I love that.

HOW TO DECORATE WITH PAINTED PINE CONES' ART AND CRAFT BLOG BY MIABO ENYADIKE

The month of October, till the month of February is the summer season in South Africa. While Europe and America are 'Wintered up', we here have loads of sun and rain with hailstones, all at the same time it is a little overwhelming.
Most mornings, its already pretty hot and I  take long walks, on the street that is at the corner of my own street.

I enjoy that walk because of all the tall pine trees, and all I see is pine cones everywhere. I always tell myself, I will pick some next time and paint some fun summer colors.

Maybe use them as decor, in my patio or my
sitting room but I always forget to go with a bag.

I remembered last Friday and went with a bag and picked as much as I could carry, bearing in mind it was a long walk back home.

Anyway I got my pine cones, cleaned them up with a small painters brush, then I brushed thinner all over each cleaned pine cone.

This I did to prevent insects or molding. I then applied white acrylic paint, as the base paint and when they were dry painted them the colors I wanted.

I chose colors, that reflect the mixed weather we are in right now. And oh! its raining but the sun is up how amazing......ENJOY!

ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM | FACES BY MIABO ENYADIKE

             ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM | FACES

The other day, I sat in my studio and I let my thoughts and imagination take over me as usual, thinking about all the subjects I love to draw or paint and why I paint or draw these particular subjects always.

I discovered that I am a people watcher whatever that means, I just love to watch people, their expressions, attitude, bravado and in general how they relate to events or situations around them.

When I'm out jogging, I look at the expression on the faces of other joggers, then I'm satisfied that I 'm not the only one with the expression of pain kind of.

When I'm shopping or out eating it's the same, I just look at expressions on the faces of people it tells me, if they are happy or satisfied being in that place at that time.

For me, that's how I create Art.
My other love is flowers, they bring me huge Joy and I buy quite a lot of them.

I love to arrange them in vases since I'm not a keen gardener, I sort of create my 'Own garden in a vase'.
I love taking pictures of the flowers and talk about them forever, then get emotional blah, blah, when they die off.

I came back to earth, after my brief peter pan moment in my studio and decided to put my best asset, to work which is my imagination.....using large sized paperboard and Ink to create art I love..........Enjoy.
