MY CLIPBOARD WEEKEND ABSTRACT ART BY MIABO ENYADIKE

MY
CLIPBOARD
WEEKEND

My weekend, was one I spent lazing around in my pyjamas, eating  flatbread and hummus.

Sounds crazy or weird but for me, it was fun and a bit out of the norm.

The weird part, was not the choice of food or being in my PJ's all day, but the brief I got from a client who commissioned me to create abstract Art on clipboards for him 10 days ago.

UNTITLED; ACRYLIC ON BOARD; MIABO ENYADIKE

Well, I have done decoupage on clipboards but actual painting no.

Not only was I not so sure, his brief was equally abstract to say the least, "just paint me anything abstract on these clipboards he said".

Tree growing; Acrylic on board; Miabo Enyadike

It took me a week to process it. I'm used to large Ink paintings on paperboard or Acrylic, on large canvas or wood boards, miniature not so sure.

It's more daunting for me to do minis, they scare me truth be told. I know some of you would be wondering, please don't judge me they scare me simple.

UNTITLED; ACRYLIC ON BOARD; MIABO ENYADIKE

Not only did I have to paint abstract paintings, on the clipboards which are A4 size, I had to paint his kids portraits on A5! minis.

By the way, that's another blog in itself, so you can understand my diet of choice.

Flowers in a vase; Acrylic on board; Miabo Enyadike

Anyway, I succeeded somehow to reduce my large free brush strokes, to small brush strokes not sure, what that means but came up with Abstract Art.

We saw later, at the end of the weekend. Thank goodness he liked them at least, that's all I can  write  for now
.......... Enjoy

WORKING WITH DENIM; MIXED MEDIA ABSTRACT ART; BY MIABO ENYADIKE.

'Worn' denim sculpture; abstract Art by miabo enyadike

'Flowers' denim sculpture by miabo enyadike

Workmen Threads; abstract mixed media; Miabo Enyadike

I love to work with denim as a creative surface in Art and also craft.

Worn; abstract mixed media; Miabo Enyadike

Used denim pants are my thing, the possibilities in terms of creativity is just awesome.

              Untitled' mixed media art;miabo enyadike

First and foremost it is a soft version of canvas, so it is easy to absorb paint and you can create all sorts of textures on it.

Flower bouquet' mixed media abstract art; by miabo enyadike

It is easy to sculpt into a desired effect and it really lends itself,

'Unity in diversity'; mixed media art; miabo enyadike

to any creative process or possibilities, an artist is prepared to go with it and I love that!.

                       Untitled' mixed media art;miabo enyadike

I'm never tired of working with used denim,  it already has structure by way of the cut,  stitching and design.

'Untitled';  abstract mixed media; miabo enyadike

So for me as an artist, who looks out for small art projects that involve, working with any surface out there, it is a wonderful dream come true.

'Unity in diversity'; mixed media art; miabo enyadike

I would not call it recycling, I would rather see my creativity with used denim pants as working with objects, to create Art that I love and enjoy.

Along the way, hoping to stir an emotion if any, in the minds of other creatives,

JUST CREATING ART; INK, ACRYLIC AND NEWSPAPERS; BY MIABO ENYADIKE

JUST CREATING
ART;
INK, ACRYLIC AND NEWSPAPERS.

Lately, I have decided to create Art on any surface that interest me. Some how it's being quite exciting picking up, textured surfaces and working on them.

This leaves me free of thinking out the process or colours deeply and no! before sketching!. I just paint what my imagination brings forth on any surface.

For me it is a journey of discovery and one I'm enjoying.

It ignites in me, a kind of creativity and freedom to express myself even on a crumbled piece of paper and still feel good about it.

The portrait of a woman; mixed media art;miabo enyadike.

Last weekend, I picked up newspapers that had been left out under the rain, by the gate house where I live.

They were wet and torn but they had an appeal to me. I particularly liked the texture,  the wet crumbled newspaper had and the fact that it was a surface that appealed to me instantly.

The portrait of a woman; mixed media art;miabo enyadike.

I separated them and dried them, being careful not to ripe it further apart and when it dried, I cured the surface with acrylic white paint.

I painted one of my creative passions, Faces on them with Ink.

The point I'm making is simple, Art is dynamic and innovative. It's not a one size fits all, it about who you are and how you can express yourself to the next man.

That makes it interesting and gives hope and purpose to people, who want to be artist and are scared. It tells a story  also of the endless possibilities of being an Artist............Enjoy.

VEGGIE FABRIC ; ART AND CRAFT BY MIABO ENYADIKE

VEGGIE
FABRIC
 CRAFT

I love craft, it is no secret.

I enjoy revamping and creating functional items practically from objects and materials around me.

                              Fabric

For me it is a way to unwind from fine Art, which sometimes could weigh on one's emotions, especially when the art you want to create is not turning out the way you envisioned.

I always turn to craft, it gives me comfort in these types of situations.

                          Covered bowl

Right now, I'm going through one of those Artist block moments and I'm a bit emotional but my first love, craft is holding me down until I pull through.

This time it is fabrics, I collect quite a lot of vintage fabrics for use in  Art and Craft.

Fabric

I find myself in flea markets, charity stores looking for those vintage sample fabrics, with lots of colours, bold patterns and prints on them.

They are hot right now and can be used to transform bland objects into fantastic decor or Art.

                       Covered bowls

This time I used bright colored fabrics  with chilli and tomato print to cover bowls,
coasters and bottles.

Things I used;

bottles
wooden coasters
wooden flowers
bowls
fabric
Mod Podge
scissor

You can find them in craft stores and dollar stores. The inspiration for me, is my new found love for vegetables. I'm into them right now I really need a reminder.

They are not bowls, for eating but they are fun decorations in the kitchen and dining area.

Wooden Coaster

The coasters make great accessories and gifts same as the bottles.

Wait a minute I just  might create pendant lights, out of the bowls I would keep you posted ................Enjoy

MAZE; ABSTRACT ART; BY MIABO ENYADIKE

MAZE
ABSTRACT
ART BY
MIABO ENYADIKE

Art for me is expressive and deepens the narrative on issues and situations we find ourselves trapped in.

These abstract art paintings, that I have made, tells the story.

Maze Series;Abstract;Ink on paperboard by Miabo Enyadike

Our world, is built around a maze one that we either create for ourselves, or one we find ourselves trapped in.

Life puts us in those situations, that make us wonder how we got there, in the first place and why me?.

Maze Series;Abstract;Ink on paperboard by Miabo Enyadike

We run back and forth thinking of these issues, but find out at the end, we are still in them no way out.

When we look at issues that affect our lives globally, no matter what is promised, we are still in them.

Maze Series;Abstract;Ink on paperboard by Miabo Enyadike

These could be climate change, economic melt down, senseless wars, migrant issues, poverty, unknown disease outbreak.

The list just goes on and the maze, gets more complicated and terrifying with a silent, rather frustrating slow way of informing us, that there is almost no way out.

Maze Series;Abstract;Ink on paperboard by Miabo Enyadike

The good news, for me that I rest on, is life is dynamic and adaptive.

It lets us push on,discovering new ways, to get out of this maze of fear, no matter how frustrating and difficult it is,there will always be a way out.....Enjoy.

COLOURS THAT POP ART AND CRAFT BY MIABO ENYADIKE

COLOURS
THAT
POP!

Sometime last year, discovered a box of ropes in my favourite charity store and bought them.

Inside the box, there where wax cord ropes and cotton ropes, and the colours of these ropes, where my motivation to buy the entire box.

I could see these colours, on home decor items and that was the inspiration.  I had to create items that pop.

The colours, are soft pastel colours and  they represent the trend colours, I felt really lucky to have found them and also for a good price too.

It took me 3months and some days, to finish all the bottles and vases, because these ropes are really thin and need to be handled with care.

For me it was an experience, worth every minute of my time and a truly humbling one.

They are all finished and I share some of my favourites with you..............Enjoy.

MY IMAGINATION ABSTRACT ART BY MIABO ENYADIKE

MY IMAGINATION
ABSTRACT ART
BY MIABO ENYADIKE

The other day, I sat in my studio and I let my thoughts and imagination take over me as usual, thinking about all the subjects I love to draw or paint and why I paint or draw these particular subjects always.

I discovered that I am a people watcher whatever that means, I just love to watch people, their expressions, attitude, bravado and  in general how they relate to events or situations around them.

         UNTITLED; INK ON PAPERBOARD;MIABO ENYADIKE.

When I'm out jogging, I look at the expression on the faces of other joggers, then I'm satisfied that I 'm not the only one with the expression of pain kind of.

   UNTITLED;INK ON PAPERBOARD; MIABO ENYADIKE

When I'm shopping or out eating it's the same, I just look at expressions on the faces of people it tells me, if they are happy or satisfied being in that place at that time.

Untitled: Abstract Art: Ink on paperboard: Miabo Enyadike

For me, that's how I create Art.

My other love is flowers, they bring me huge Joy and I buy quite a lot of them.

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT; INK ON PAPERBOARD; MIABO ENYADIKE

I love to arrange them in vases since I'm not a keen gardener,I sort of create my
'Own garden in a vase'.

I love taking pictures of the flowers and talk about them forever, then get emotional blah, blah, when they die off.

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT; INK ON PAPERBOARD; MIABO ENYADIKE

I came back to earth, after my brief peter pan moment in my studio and decided to put my best asset, to work which is my imagination.....using large sized paperboards and Ink to create art I love..........Enjoy.
