Valentine season is here, and our thoughts are on how to spend the day with people we love and care for.

Heart Painting

ART ILLUSTRATIONS MY WARDROBE AND GARDEN BY MIABO ENYADIKE

Sometimes we have it all planned and it goes well as planned. Other times not so well, or not all.

I planned to spend the day, painting a series of acrylic paintings, but found myself in my studio, dreaming about getting a new wardrobe and how to tend to my over grown garden.

Next thing I knew I had board paper in my hands, ink and pen and was simply doodling or illustrating my exact thoughts on paper .

I finally drew myself a well tended garden and a new wardrobe, then spent the rest of the day in dream land...ENJOY.

LACE AND FABRIC MOD PODGE IDEAS ON VASES BY MIABO ENYADIKE

We all have that off cut fabric here and there, and we love these cut offs but not sure what to do with them.

I have my own stash of cut offs, sometimes ideas come up to use them.

This is one of the ideas that came up, to cover dollar store vases with fabric cut offs, mod podge and acrylic paint.

It was a bit daunting at first but later I was able to get through with it.

I used lace, cotton and polyester fabrics, the easiest fabric to set on the vases, was the cotton lace fabric.

The others took a while but they all turned out well.....................ENJOY.

LIVING AT HOME ART AND CRAFT I LOVE BY MIABO ENYADIKE

For me Art and Craft are a huge part of my life apart from it being  my trade, it is a lifestyle and one that I enjoy living.

This year I have decided  to change my concept of colour, instead of keeping it simple

I decided to go bold for myself and translate the real way I feel

inside of me through colour on the things I love.

The only way these colourful items could be curated in my home, without being loud

was to paint my walls in my living room and beyond white so

the Art and Craft represent the colour.............Enjoy

MY FUN PAINTED PINE CONES BY MIABO ENYADIKE

This is the summer season in Johannesburg and loads of sun and rain all at the same time, it is a little overwhelming.

Most mornings, its already pretty hot and I  take long walks, on the street that is at the corner of my own street.

I enjoy that walk because of all the tall pine trees, and all I see is pine cones every where. I always tell myself, I will pick some next time and paint some fun summer colours.

Maybe use them as decor, in my patio but I always forgot to go with a bag. I remembered last friday, went with a bag and picked as much as I could carry, bearing in mind it was a long way back home.

Anyway I got my pine cones, cleaned them up and painted them with a brush and acrylic paint.

I chose colours, that reflect the mixed weather we are in right now. And oh! its raining but the sun is up how amazing......ENJOY!

MY VINTAGE TRAVEL ADVENTURE MOD PODGE PLATE CRAFT PROJECT BY MIABO ENYADIKE

My mod podge projects on plates are rare,it is not that I don't enjoy mod podge projects on plates, I am just fascinated with bottles. My last outing to a flea market, was different this time. I was in the look out, for vintage crockeries plain and simple.

Something I could re-purpose with mod podge and some free vintage printables I had just obtained.

The plate hunting turned out great, and I decided a rather dusty, vintage very very  worn out, look would suit my project.

I chose Paris, as my underlining subject, in both a subtle and bold way to create a vintage Paris travel adventure.

 One I wish, I had undertaken myself..........ENJOY.

MY GLITZ AND GLAM 1970s DISCO DECOR BOTTLES BY MIABO ENYADIKE

My bottle projects, are an on going process that really keeps going, because people send me bottles or materials, they are certain I will use; guess what? on bottles!.Thanks.

Like I always say Fine Art is my profession, but decorating bottles is my first love.

This particular project is close to my heart, because the fabric I used on the bottles, was sent to me by my twin sister. Who lives in another country, her words were simply "take this and do something with it".

Its been almost a year since I got this sequined fabric and since I always start the year with re-purposing bottles, I felt the time was right to use this gift .

I  decided something glitz and glam related to the 1970s disco twist will do. So here are my glitz and glam 1970s disco decor bottles.....Enjoy.

MY BOTTLE SKYLINE ART AND CRAFT BY MIABO ENYADIKE

My love for bottles, is one that I cherish and I look out for new ways, to improve and incorporate new ideas into this re-cycling craft that I love so much.

The bottle skyline I made, are different sizes of bottles put together on a wooden platform, with glue and spray paint, to create a skyline of some sort that would serve as a decor piece.

This could represent a simple sculpture piece or could be used as vases for floral arrangement, especially during the summer season.

For me I put this simple yet elegant pieces, in my reading space

as a constant reminder, "that impossible is nothing"...ENJOY!

GETTING MY CRAFT WORK ON! 2015 BY MIABO ENYADIKE

Starting the year, with one of my most fulfilling endeavours, which is re-purposing and re-cycling items is always exciting to me.

Through the last few weeks its been me, putting up inspiration/mood boards for my art this year.

I spent the last few weeks of last year 2014, gathering as much    re-cycleable items from every where possible.

So I could create themes and purpose around these items.

My studio is in a total mayhem, just got my Cricut explore cutter machine delivered to me, still trying to explore that.

Bought a lot of cheap glass and ceramic vases from the thrift and charity stores, how exciting is that?. Collected tonnes of bottles from friends and restuarants.

Talked my favourite fabric store, into selling all there fabric remnants to me,  for cheap. Also got good quality leather scraps, from stalking my upholstery maker down the road.

With all the other necessary add on's and craft materials ready I think I'm getting my craft work on...................... ENJOY
